雙溪最繁華的礦業時期，東和戲院是最重要的休閒娛樂場所，不僅知名歌仔戲演員登台演出，後來也播放電影，男女主角會隨片登台，促進票房！原建築有兩層樓，一樓是售票處、座位區和舞台區，並有挑高馬蹄形看台座位區，二樓是電影放映室，整座戲院最多可容納200人。戲院旁還有酒家、麵店、中藥房、旅店林立，相當熱鬧。現在戲院只剩售票亭，以及被藤蔓、苔蘚覆蓋的斑駁牆壁，這樣的廢墟感卻是攝影愛好者的獵景秘境。

During Shuangxi’s mining heyday, Donghe Theater was the center of local entertainment. It featured famous Taiwanese opera performances and later showed films, often with live appearances by the stars. The original two-story building had a ground floor with a ticket booth, seating area, and stage, including a unique horseshoe-shaped balcony. The second floor housed the projection room, and the theater could hold up to 200 people. Around the theater were teahouses, noodle shops, herbal shops, and inns. It was a busy area showing how lively the town once was. Today, only the ticket booth and vine-covered, moss-streaked walls remain. Yet, the beauty of this urban ruin has become a hidden gem for photography lovers.
