Markets and Libraries: Shuangxi's Daily Stories

雙溪綜合市場日治時期原是「基隆郡役所警察課雙溪分室」，光復後改為戶政事務所，後來變身為熱鬧的生活據點！1990年設立綜合市場大樓，一樓是市集攤位，二樓是大型活動場地，三樓有一座圖書館。攤商多自三忠廟舊市集搬遷而來，現今黑豬肉仍吸引平溪、貢寮、基隆民眾採購及宅配，也有青世代重新打造攤位，以新穎設備保持肉質新鮮及衛生。設有「在地知識學專區」的圖書館，珍藏雙溪歷史與記憶，讓地方故事在書頁中延續。

During the Japanese colonial era, the site of today's Shuangxi General Market was the Shuangxi Branch of the Police Division under Keelung Subprefecture. After Taiwan's retrocession, it became a household registration office before evolving into a lively community hub. In 1990, a multi-functional market building was established. The first floor is a busy marketplace, the second floor is an event space, and the third floor holds a public library. Many vendors moved here from the old market near Sanzhong Temple. Today, the market's black pork still attracts buyers from Pingxi, Gongliao, and Keelung for both walk-in purchase and home delivery. A new generation of vendors uses modern equipment to keep the meat fresh and clean. The library has a “Local Knowledge Corner” that preserves Shuangxi's history and memories, helping the town's stories live on through books.
